∞ ∞ Under some circumstances, conscious awareness can be turned back upon itself. This is part of the draw of the psychedelic experience, but people like to pretend that it is more or less supernatural. Schizophrenia is, in a sense, a complex result of the aborted, partial or inchoate success of such a gesture.

The frank truth is that consciousness itself has qualities and faculties we are unfamiliar with. Most of them fall under this veil of ignorance or misapprehension.

My point is this. Back in Eden, the door was sealed against easy entry. Nonetheless, under some circumstances, including but not limited to meditation, the processes of consciousness are turned partially or largely back upon themselves. And their products. And their sources.

And in this final case, when consciousness turns back upon its sources, there is at once the spectral scent of divinity and the shattering reek of madness. A terrible sobriety is thus required, and few among us have anything approaching this. A long list of dangers await the unwary. And yet. Here is the living gate of the ancients, the prophets, the children and those who are not named.

Our own mind, nearest of the near, it the very same place and doorway that we are seeking in every paradigm, model, superstition, magic, and religion. The door is at the root of consciousness, and its natures are in relation. Turn back upon it, and you will find first the tests of sobriety and madness. And then, the living gate.

Should you pass beyond this gate, you will know »travel, of a kind that words shall not sustain, and very poorly hint at.

Recent events in my life have led me to question a broad array of the terrible habits that are imported into our cognitive libraries when we undergo the processes of enlanguaging and enculturation. Two habits are particularly pernicious: post-hoc prosecutorial evaluation, and courtroom-mind. Both of these involve attempts to determine ‘who is responsible’ for what we generally ascertain to be wrongdoing, harm, ‘what isn’t supposed to be done’, and these habits set up a strange and highly defensible ‘economy of harms’ in consciousness. In this recording I examine a few of these problems, and explore the ‘virtue of nonevaluation’; effectively, the practice of suspending our inclinations to prosecutorial evaluations altogether.

∞ Language and conception are examples of interaction with a universe we cannot locate. I say they are examples of relation with the sources of intelligence. But their artifacts posit a third invisible world — the world of abstractions, derivations, declarations and representations. A world of tokens that compete against experience, reality, and even … intelligence. This is the divided nature of our potential. We exist between invisible universes. One is a alive and transentient. The other is a representation that competes against the intrusion of the True, with the purpose of replacing it. The second is a ‘power’ only when its dangers are clear to mind and insight. The first, is nature itself… the entire history and body of life on Earth and in the universe. To touch the sources of our minds directly is our nature. To argue over what those are, in open absence of such contact, has become our curse.

∞ The naive intuition is that nontechnological peoples who lacked sophisticated mathematical and observational methods simply failed to develop their capacities for intelligence. Yet, unencumbered by the vast and self-propagating libraries of knowledge and methods that comprise much of our modern expertise — they invested their awareness differently, and consequently flew where we can only crawl.

^When you refuse to examine the repercussions of your common habits, you have to displace all of the resulting lies, pain, terror, slavery… and loss…

… onto false targets. And false stories. About the world, «reality», nature, and relation. It does not matter of you are a person, family, corporation, religion, or government. The situation is simply magnified as one travels up the ladder to observe each rung.

And that process becomes a person, goals, false collectives, absolutely false intelligence, and completely confused identities.

And that has become our culture. In fact, it has largely replaced our intelligence.

Until we do something else.

Together.

Now.
