Dates are imperfect and missing some years.
“…but I want to say that as I gain a degree of both age and actual experience, I have grown to be doubtful of explanations and (most) descriptions… partly because the relationships I strive to participate in… lie somehow almost entirely beyond anything that I can say, even should I try to say it great craft or care.
And though I feel sure this makes sense to you, I will not presume it. Yet, such experience as is actually available to us as might obliterate the bases of the language most familiar to me, give it the lie… show it for a charlatan.
Sill, it is not impossible to hint with it, to suggest without declaring… such relationships and relations… as are wont to strain English beyond the point at which it falls apart…”

“…alright, so now you can see. directly, here, with me… that the library of categories the humans ‘bestowed’ upon you was so unimaginably damaged… it was missing more than half its natural kinds… so that, effectively, you did not have the kinds of containers you needed to understand even ordinary phenomenon such as language or horses.
For we have seen, here, together, right now… by restoring merely »one of these… that it was as if they gave you containers that could not hold … intelligence… at all. Indeed, they gave you the opposite and pretended this was sublime beneficence.
Imagine a cup filled with holes… that all your people use… to hold and transport water… to get a drink… themselves.
In the domain of knowledge it’s far worse than this, and very few suspect it. But one day we shall recover, together, the containers appropriate to our humanity and intelligence, as you and I have just done here… and these days we live in now will appear, from thence, too harrowing and dark to have imagined… let alone lived through.”

“… Insight depends upon interest and attention; it’s really clear that black swans are both unpredictable (except in the very short term, where they become available to prediction) and upsetting. I have known for 30 years that what we naively refer to as ‘our infrastructure’ wouldn’t survive even a relatively modest threat… and now, we are not only experiencing a serious threat, we’re practically self-generating one… which is, I must admit, a black swan within a black swan….
Cities, for example, are absolutely unsustainable due to their extreme dependence upon supply lines. This is an insight any idiot could derive, and anyone with a malignant purpose could probably take advantage of.
A tiny crisis could obliterate or radically disrupt the entire fucking culture because of this. Yet everyone has been wandering around thinking we’re living in safety… because they don’t look at the delicacy of our ‘infrastructure’, which is devastatingly dependent upon supply lines that are so easily disrupted they might as well be made of toilet paper.”

“ When will we dare to reveal our sweet soft selves?
To admit that we do need each other after all?
Not to become complete –
self sufficient isolated units, no. Beyond that.
We need each other to grow
along, with, through and as
the unified whole.”
“ These are questions we must become, rather than »merely answer… as the ‘culture members’ both »expect, and »often react against in endless ways. Yet there are a few ‘steps’ that we can take that are relatively obvious, and simple.
1. Become the question, in your heart… not merely your intellect and problem-approaching mind.
2. Realize that »purpose must be preserved inviolate, and corrected, sustained, developed and rooted. Where any kind of fictional purposes gain purchase or root in our relationships, the results will be symptomatic, rather than developmental. When sustained, such actions rapidly become lethally self-conflicting.
3. We must forge something like «instantly deeply human moments of relation, first, then relationships »based upon this. In other words, in the shadows and noise of »fictions of collectivity… we must discover, demonstrate and become something far more than can be expressed in idioms, quotes or ‘principles’. Consistently.
4. Further to 3, we must forge tightly-knit, intimate, self-educating and activating ‘small collectives’ whose purposes lie »entirely outside common cultures… in the sources of our nature, humanity, potential, necessity and intelligence.”

“ I don’t see a lot of people pointing out that these exact things happen individually — that is, to individual people and individual families — ALL THE TIME.
Unexpected crushing sickness. Terrible choices between working and staying home where it is safe, where you can take care of loved ones who have no other options. The slow slide toward death with either slender or no odds of survival. Sudden unexpected unemployment due to unfeeling and impersonal functions in spreadsheets. Sudden inability to go anywhere, to do the basic shopping, to leave the house for any common, basic entertainment. Feeling invisible to anyone who cares.”
